Have you ever had an experience that seemed to rock your confidence? Like maybe you tried something new and you didn’t do well at it, or maybe you were up against someone who you felt had it together better than you? I know I have had plenty of those experiences over my lifetime. When that happens it is easy to get off track and go down a rabbit hole of feeling like you aren’t good enough, not talented enough, or can’t do anything right. When one area of our life feels out of sorts, it is easy to let that spill into other areas. It often starts out subtly and if not addressed quickly it can take us off track and into a sea of feeling bad. No bueno.
I have discovered a solution that works well for me. Whenever I feel my confidence is getting rocky, I now know what to do to get back on track. I rock my confidence back in shape by cooking. Yes, that is right. I cook. You see cooking is something that I enjoy and I am confident in my cooking skills. I have learned that doing something I am good at and enjoy, grounds me when I am feeling shaken. Doing something I am confident in reminds me that I am a confident person. That there are a lot of things that I am confident about. And…just because I am feeling a bit shaky over this thing at the moment (whatever it may be) doesn’t change the fact that I have confidence in other areas. Once I start cooking I can feel my confidence level rising back up. Even better if I share my cooking with friends.
So next time your confidence is being rocked, I recommend that you “rock your confidence” take action and do whatever it is that you do well. Take the time to dive into one of those activities that you love to do and are good at. That thing that you are confident in. Do that thing and remind yourself that you are awesome, you are a confident person, and you have some amazing skills.
What is the thing that you rock? Is it playing a sport? A musical instrument? Is it listening to music and humming along because you know all the words to the songs of that era? Are you good at doing crossword puzzles? Do you enjoy woodworking? Gardening?
If you would, please take a moment to comment below and let me know what that thing is that you rock…
I can feel your confidence rising just thinking about it.
Much love,
Suzi
