The Case of the Missing Keys

I don’t know about you but I just love reading stories or watching movies where a mystery is solved. I hope you enjoy this silly little story.

About ten years ago or so, on a bright sunny January day, I took my little dog Gidget for a walk. I picked up my keys and read the key fob that said “$200 replacement fee if lost”. You see, my daughter had been in a car accident and I was driving a rental car, so she could drive my car. As I read that, I heard myself say, “Boy, I sure wouldn’t want to lose those keys”. I am not kidding, 10 minutes later, I could not find those keys!!!! Gidget and I retraced every step. I looked in everything and everywhere I could possibly think to look. No keys. So, I got to spend the rest of the day and some of the next, getting that car key replaced. Luckily, my son-in-law worked at a dealership and was able to help me get it replaced for quite a bit less than the $200.

One of the things that stood out to me so clearly was how quickly that thought became my reality. I know and believe our words have power but geez, lol, really? It sure didn’t seem that powerful. Anyway, almost a year went by and I still wondered from time to time what happened to those keys. Then, one day, I got out the large trash bags of Christmas garland to decorate my balcony and, as I shook the contents out I heard a clink. I knew immediately the mystery of the missing keys was solved. There they were. I had been putting the garland away the day I lost them. Oh well, as I always say, life is about the stories and this is a silly fun one to me. And, a sweet memory of my little Gidgey dog.
